Since the early 1990s, Lowryders (and other aspects of Chicano culture) have become a prominent feature in hip hop culture, primarily in West Coast hip hop where the 1964 Chevy Impala ragtop is widely considered to be the most desirable lowryder, and Daytons are widely considered to be the most desirable manufacturer of spoke rims.

Although the 1961-64 Chevrolet Impala is usually sought after by car collectors, vehicles including the 1978-88 GM G-bodies (which includes the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and Pontiac Grand Prix) and its 1973-77 relatives are usually seen as entry-level lowryders.
A new breed of lowryder bicycles and even the occasional motorbike have been inspired by lowrider culture.
